I'm being serious, that's the name of the technique I used to make this:

I got my nan to teach me how to do it for a project last term, I think it's more commonly called "English latice-work" but I like "faggoting" better Grin. The light in these pics doesn't really do the velvet justice, but I've just realised that my b/f has pinched the batteries from my camera  Cry. Anyway, everyone really likes it and it was my first handbag besides a few ones made out of paper.

And here's a beaded one done for the same project, but it's more of a design sample than a useable bag, given that I was tired when I had to make the handle and so just stuck some masking tape to the back of the velvet. The inspiration for the pattern came from lichen:

Both bags are beautiful, esp. the first one!  The velvet and the stitch go beautifully together...Would it work with a diff. fabric as well?  Are you considering a tutorial? Smiley

Wow!  You did an excellent job on that purse it looks amazing!  I have seen that latice work done before and I just love it.  I'll have to try it myself sometime.  Your other purse is quite fabulous too!
