Since I've never done intarsia before, I made a shrug to test out my abilities before I make the dream sweater I'm planning. For this shrug, I used rtrgrrl's cropped shrug/hoodie pile of flesh. The real thing won't be EXACTLY like Rinoa's sweater because I just can't get my head around ribbed intarsia and because I want sleeves, not arm warmers. And I want it short.

Anyway, without further ado, on to the shrug:

I hope you liked it!

That is a really cute shrug. Im a HUGE fan of FF8 (lol, tiny crush on squall, not gunna lie). I cant wait to see the final sweater.

BTW, did you make that afghan below the shrug, because it is gorgeous!

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, I made the baby blanket, too. It was supposed to be for my niece, but my mom said it was so gorgeous that I should keep it for whenever I have kids. So that thing will be lying around for about five years but whatever. It was a pain in the butt, though.

The pile of flesh looks really dramatic on the red yarn.  This is really inspiring to see!  (Why does Square make such deceptively complicated clothing designs?!  XD)

If there is a way to pm a file, I don't know what it is. Sorry!

Maybe I can tear my hubby away from his ROH dvd a little later and I'll get him to take some pictures of me in the hoodie.

Gorgeous! The wings break up the solid color a bit, which is great!

I have to ask: What kind of yarn did you use? And were you on gauge for the original pile of flesh?

I've been looking everywhere for some soft yarn that actually has a good color to it... but the only thing I came up with was knitting double ply in peruvian cashmere- which would be kind of expensive, for one, and doesn't match the gauge. I don't have a LYS, so I'm a bit restricted to online yarn, and that's kind of hard to work with when I don't know of many decent (low-cost) online suppliers.

I just used Caron Simply Soft, which they sell at Walmart. That's my LYS because I live in the middle of nowhere. I'm pretty sure I was on gauge, too, because it was supposed to be worsted weight yarn. It took close to two skeins of the red and a little bit of the off-white that I had left over from another project.

Too freaking cool! The only FF game I own (and I'm in eat with it) and I'd eat to have a copy of that graph. Maybe when I start knitting more intricate things.

Off topic, but did you follow a pile of flesh for that baby blanket, or did you make it up?  It's beautiful.
