Sorry I've been gone so long. Am trying to get back on the boards. Body's thrown me for a few loops these past months and am still learning to adjust. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you, hon!  Kiss  And that goes fer all o'y'all!

What appear to be gems are actually a glued on sequin with a clear opalescent bead on top.  This was a trick I picked up from a pair of fancy flip-flops I bought once upon a time.

I looks like you widened the pieces a bit to make them fit together much tighter!!  Gorgeous complimentary fabrics and the embellishments are just perfect!!  Very nice, fidget--and inspirational!

Thanks, y'all! Smiley Kiss

Now you achieved bigger without the holes effect...what size were your pieces??
There are holes, but they are deep since the pieces are so fluffy.  You can see one of the holes in the second picture - where three segments join.

The basic shape I used was 1 1/2" x 2 5/8".   This was the stitch line.  The measurement does not include seam allowance!

I purchase Omiyage which has a pattern for a puzzle ball.  Her solution to the holes is to use a different shape for the interior pieces, more of a wedge shape.  So, you have one eye shaped piece for the top and two wedge shaped pieces for the interior.  I believe she joined the sements at the point of the wedges and at the points of the eye shape.  My mama's got the book right now so I can't check it.  Stellaandjim, if you see this and want to comment on this, please do so!
