has anyone heard of tattoo artists using some spray that numbs the skin a bit? i've always wondered about that.

Personally I would be suspicious of any artist that agrees to using that sort of spray/cream.  My artist said that because of the effect it has on the skin, it really messes up the healing process and can cause the ink not to hold in the skin.

One way to get an idea of how much it will hurt to tattoo any area is to pinch it.  It might not tell you much over bony areas, but you will get an idea of which parts of your body are more sensitive than others.

Okay, here's mine.  Sorry about the crappy photos but the flash kept washing out the darkness of the ink in my tattoos.  They're really not that faded, I swear!

My feet...just got 'em done and I took this picture the morning after my appointment.  Eww, they're all greasy and swollen:

My chest...it's amazing how hard it is to take a picture of your own chest.  Couldn't get the camera and timer just right.  Sorry the pic is so blurry:

My back...the OM in the middle was my first tattoo ever.  The initials on my left and right shoulder are my grandmother's initials:

And, last but not least, my arms.  These are my babies and the tats I'm most proud of:

And hoping for an early death you swam so far you lost your breath, and struggling in the ebb and flow I took your hand, but you let go...
And now the ocean fills your lungs, and now you've got what you had come for, resting peaceful as you sink to drown under a sea of strangers.

HAH!  not at all!  I really like that, I think it's a great coverup... the "dragon" never looked like a dragon to me anyway.

And like a downward smoke, the slender stream
Along the cliff to fall and pause and fall did seem.

I spent 9 years whith people asking me "what is this?" and me replying "a dragon".

I was afraid that now its going to "wtf is this thing in between the two nemos?"

But I really like it. Its so colourful, I love that. I want more Grin.

I'm going for a consult today. I'll be adding more stars to my back like the ones in my avatar and my birthdate on the Julian calendar in Latin. I am having thoughts about changing the date to another one that is more recent and really important to me but for more complex reasons. I keep having thoughts that my birthday is kind of silly.
