WOW! There is some awesome work in this thread (and the last). SO hard to go through it all and remember which ones I loved, and which ones I thought were crazy!! But, I guess you do have to be in a different state of mind to intentionally wound yourself, now don't you??!!  Grin

Anyways... this is my first tattoo. The pic was taken the same day, about 3 hours after. Love the woman who did it for me, she really is an incredible artist, but because of my nervousness, I didn't pay enough attention to the sketch, or as to it's direct placement on my back!!! I HATED it for a long time. Had to remind myself that I KNEW it was permanent BEFORE I went in, and that I din't have a right to complain about it. Thankfully, it's on my back, and not somewhere I can see it unless I WANT to.

The colours suck in the pic, it's turquoise and navy. Can you all notice the flaw, or do I write it off as part of it being "original" and "unique"?

clrowi, I like it a lot. I think the reason she may not have placed it dead center is because of your spine. Many artists have particulars they won't cross. Like my artist refused to get anywhere the cuff of my wrist. Whenever he does anything in that region its two fingers from bottom of hand up the arm.

Today is my daughters Confirmation, but when I get home and all comfy. I will post my tattoo's so you can see what I mean. There is one tattoo that I will show that wasn't done by my current artist. I will give details with them all when I get home.

But I know it is the first tattoo and we all have something either negative or positive about that tattoo.

I kind of like that it's a little off to the right.  It looks like it's dangling on the single web string!

rara avis, it means "rare bird" in Latin.

I just received it today, it's done by Shawn at Club Tattoo in Tempe, Arizona.  It was a rather spur of the moment idea, something I always told myself I wouldn't do in the case of a tattoo, but I love it all the same.

crazy! i've been holding onto that same phrase for years and have always thought about getting it tattooed. looks great.
