That owl is beautiful!

I only have one modest tattoo. I got it done last November after planning it for two years. The tattooist was recommended to me by a random girl on the bus one day who had a drawing of Shakespeare tattooed on her calf. I brought in the copy of the drawing and my artist, Steve, made a few changes for me and when he showed me his final design I just knew it was perfect and was no longer worried I wouldn't like it or would regret getting it.

This tattoo means a lot to me, and I absolutely love it! Can't wait for summer so I can finally properly show it off!
Tattoos are addictive, so I'll definitely be getting another one, but not until I figure out what I want to get...so probably another two years! haha

it used to be an embroidery design, but I've always had a love for turtles, so 2 christmas's ago, I got this ( I know it's blurry, but I cant seem to take a decent picture of my foot?)

I love that owl!  I have a colorful dragon on my right ankle, and I've been wanting an owl for the other side, but I was having some trouble with the color issue -- i didn't want it to be boring, but I didn't want it to look like a cartoon.  I'm so glad you showed yours with the whimsical colors!

My second and newest, done on March 29th by Jay at Skinscapes North Tattoo in Mahopac, NY:



Excuse the dirty mirror shot. It's on my left shoulder (so you're actually seeing the reverse of what it really looks like). That picture is from right after I got it done so the colors are not as true as they are now... The nautical star (to symbolize home) is black and purple, and the smaller stars (starting from the nautical star and going out) are navy blue for my dad, turquoise for my mom, lime green for my little sister, and hot pink for me. We each chose our own colors. Purple was just chosen cause it looked good lol... sadly, the green needs to be touched up very badly. I lost a LOT of the color in a bad shower meets scab incident. I'll post a better picture when I get that done

rira, how bad did it hurt? i plan on getting a dragonfly on my foot this week, and wondering how much pain i'm getting myself into. my other ones are on my back and ankle, which were nearly painless. but this is my damn foot! lol

rara avis, it means "rare bird" in Latin.

I just received it today, it's done by Shawn at Club Tattoo in Tempe, Arizona.  It was a rather spur of the moment idea, something I always told myself I wouldn't do in the case of a tattoo, but I love it all the same.

I didnt think it hurt at all. It only took ~ 7-10 minutes and the adrenaline was still kicking. It started to pinch a bit at the end, but nothing unbareable. My roomate went and got a tat on her foot a few months later and still calls me a liar about the pain..
