I only have one piece, although it's been worked on twice, and frankly, I could do without the pain! I was proud of myself for handling it well, but I can't say the pain added anything other than...well, pain.

That pencil is adorable!!!!!! Does it have meaning?

So, far, none of my tattoos has been extremely painful. The ones that hurt the most were my inner biceps...that did kind of feel like a hot knife being drug though my skin. It only lasted for 2 hours though, so it wasn't so bad. I was actually surprised at my pain threshold-I thought I would be a total wimp.

Thanks!  I accidentally got a pencil stuck in my right foot when I was 5 and I asked my mother constantly that year when the mark from it would go away.  She said "It'll be gone by the time you're married."  Just got married last year, and there's still a little mark in my right foot (my mother was wrong?!?!?!?), so I figured it was time for the mark to go away.  (And my husband is a writer, so kind of a double meaning thing there).  The tattoo artist didn't want to go that close to my toes, so the mark isn't covered (you can sorta see it in the pic), but that was the general idea.

And the ladybug because the first time that my husband and I went on vacation together (back when we were dating) our hotel room was infested with ladybugs.

That is the cutest story I've ever heard! My best friend has a pencil mark in his hand from a mutual friend way back in 9th grade and every time he sees her he has to point out his 10+ year old pencil mark. Your tattoo artist was right about getting too close to the toes. I have henna designs on both of my feet and at the top closest to the toes has been touched up twice now and it still fades within 6 months after being done. I like your ladybug reference too. I have ladybugs on the leaves of my roses on my chest piece in rememberance of my grandma. She had a cross-stitch on her wall that had ladybug pins that we would move around to different places... Anyways, I went off on a tangent. What I really wanted to say was that you tattoo is super cute and I love the story behind it.

How fantastic! That's so great that is has so many meanings. And I think I can spot the little mark on your foot too!!! (Isn't funny how when we get older, it's just so shocking that our parents can be wrong! Ha ha)
