it's a stencil, I found it on some itallian paper I had, of course I stuck bridges ove all the islands and painted them in after the fact.

I used a roller and acrylic paint with textile medium added.

I can't wait to see what everyone does with it!

Great tutorial!  I just made one of these and it was super easy!  I made it alot smaller, the main rectangle was 13X9 with 12 inch straps.  I used a soup bowl for the curve an it worked great.  I also just pinched the bottoms instead of adding another piece of fabric b/c I'm lazy.  I don't really like the fabric, I just grabed some fabric I had left over to try it out.  I am definetly going to make another in fabric I really like!

Thanks SarahFroggy and Jen!  I made another today which I like much more.  I think I'll give the orange one away and keep this one.  It is blue cordory with cherry lining and I embroidered cherries on the outside.  I love cherries!  I think it turned out really cute! I

I had a go at making this today, except I made it longer; more like a shopping bag. I had loads of heavy interfacing left over, but couldn't find, it so used a medium-weight one instead, which I don't think was heavy enough... I don't even like the fabric, it was a remnant I got from work for 1. I also managed to burn myself on the glue gun while making the little flower from some scraps of leatherette and felt... Grumble grumble  Cry

Still, it's not too bad for something that took an hour to knock together!
