Where did you get that yarn?  I've been wanting to knit that blanket for my nephew, but the yarn that they wanted me to use was TOO expensive.  That yarn's really gorgeous, though.

Thanks! I got some of it at my independently-owned LYS, and some at Fabric Place (http://www.fabricplace.com/storefront/default.aspx). Smiley

Ach, pretty! Love, love, love the colors! I'm starting one in (countdown, yes) 3 days. Hopefully if the yarn arrives, and it looks as good as yours!

very pretty the colors are great. I totally agree with I don't think I'd ever make a blanket or something for the home out of 100% wool there is to much of a risk for a felting accident or something else. I only use acrylic and acrylic blends for blankets especially for kids or if i'm making it as a gift

Beautiful blanket! I'm sure mom and baby were appreciative.

So I'm having a baby. And my husband wants me to make this blanket for the pollywog--using that fancy pants, break-the-bank yarn. Does anyone know if the Koigu is fingering weight? That's all I can find online and don't want to, um, accidentally order $100 of uselessness.

Any help would be much appreciated!

tavandeb, koigu is fingering weight. it's also handwash only which is something to keep in mind with babies. but it'll be beautiful if you do decide to use it!

Stunning blanket. I love the use of colors. I must keep this in mind for friends who are expecting in the early summer.

Having bored myself rigid making the pinwheel blanket (easily found through google), and having yet more pregnant friends this is looking like a good choice for the next baby to arrive!  I agree that not many mothers would thank you for a handwash only blanket... Mine will be in acrylic, and hopefully in lovely colours like the one here.
