Hello! This is my first real post on craftster... I'm a long time lurker though. I've been sort of shy to post!

This is a gift I made for a friend of mine for her birthday. Basically all she eats is baguettes and various cheeses and also loves wine so I decided this would be a suiting theme. She also told me she was in need of a pincushion so I guess that's how it all came together!

This is a close-up...

(Excuse the funny backgrounds...my camera is sort of poor-quality and I have to work with the only natural light I can get which is outside...my house is so dark!)

The whole thing.

Basically I just made up patterns as I went along. Everything is made out of felt and stuffed with poly-fill so it's all is "pin-stickable", haha.

I'm thinking of making some shrinky dink pins to go in the top that look like price signs.

Oh, that really is cute!  Did you use felt from the store, or did you needle felt it?  I love your embroidery, too!

Terrific job, I love the little croissant! I think I'd have a hard time sticking pins in it too. I'd probably end up having it on a knick-knack shelf or something...

This is fantastic and soooo cute! You have inspired me to do something similar.  Cheesy  I have been making a lot of projects out of felt lately and looking for something functional.

My pincushion is usually the couch - or my pants leg - when I'm watching TV and working on a project. hah. My guy hates it, he's worried that I'll leave one behind or something. Totally possible.  Tongue

holy WOW!!!!  In the first pic, I though each individual croissant and block of cheese was its own pincushion!!  I didn't even notice the giant pins stuck in them!  WOW!  What fabulous details, excellent stitching, GORGEOUS pincushion!

I immediately hit the "this rocks" button...Kudos to you!!  You should definately think of selling these!

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

Thanks! I actually take that as a compliment... I sort of have this "thing" for mushrooms (no, not the hallucinatory kind haha) and mushroom-related items, and a big interest in mycology.

I actually bought the polka-dotted felt with intentions to make mushroom pincushions but I thought it might work well for this too.

Let me see here... (ruler in hand)

The base of the pincushion is about 3 and 1/4" across and about 1 and 3/4" high. Including the miniatures, at it's tallest point (the wine bottle) it's about 5" tall.

Thank you for your compliments! I really have been meaning to make the shrinky dinks but I have a hard time following through with one project before wanting to start another one. I really should get on that though... considering her birthday was in early August. haha
