Does anyone know how to make the crocheted flower on the funky purse from Hollywood Knits Style or know of a link similar to it. It looks like this.
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_needlework_knitting/article/0,1789,HGTV_3263_4026487,00.html

I have the book but it doesn't give a pattern for the flower. I've searched and searched but I haven't found one. I'm a beginner crocheter so I don't have a clue how to figure it out myself. Would appreciate any help thanks.

Try looking around at http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com.  Go to the free pattern directory and they have an entire section called "flowers" that looks to have a lot of patterns.  Perhaps you will find what you are looking for there.

Sometimes, it seems like when you really know what you want to make, you have a heck of a time finding a pattern for it.  Is there an e-mail address for the woman who designed the bag?  Maybe e-mail her!

I'm only guessing but made try sc about three rounds
ch4 sl st to make a ring
rnd 1: 11 sc into ring (12 sc)
rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (24 sc)
rnd 3: 2 sv in each sc around, except for last sc, do three sc in last one (makes 49 sc)
that makes a center then join on a new colour and try something like *1sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, 1 double double crochet (don't know what you guys call them), 1dc, 2hdc, 1sc* for each petal (seven stitches for each petal, seven petals)

Hope that helps.  I haven't tested it but it should work.

Yeah disneyfan I know I'd see 'em all day long if I weren't looking for it. Well I went to the sussdesigns.com website and there was no direct email for suss cousins but I tried the one for the website but it was returned said no such email. So go figure. You would think if she shows the flower in the picture on the purse in the book she would have included it in the pattern and when she was on carol duvall she was just like and you can add this cute crocheted flower. Well I would if I knew how to make the dang thing. lol. I appreciate ya'll trying to help. Thanks so much ecreations I'll try that. Thanks IamSusie for looking. All ya'll are so helpful.

This is a fairly old Carol Duvall project.  She quit taping shows more than a year ago and I remember this bag a long time ago.  I've always wanted to make it too.  I think I even bought those bamboo handles too.  Never fear! I'm sure I have links to several cute flowers that I'll be able to connect to tomorrow.

Hi again,
I've tested my pattern and it doesn't work! Sorry! firstly the middle ripples due to over increasing. And also the petals are too rounded. If you make a middle, increasing till you have 21(?) then try
*ch2, 1dc, ch3, 1dc in same spot as first dc, 1dc, sc* for each petal 7 times around
Hope thats ok

edit: tried it, sorta works - not sure if it looks like what you want

It sounds like ecreations is onto something.  I looked around a bit and found some that I've bookmarked at some point.

Some cute flowers are at this website : http://www.craftbits.com/viewCategory.do?categoryID=CRO
scroll down to "flowers".

CrochetMe magazine has some modern looking flowers too: http://www.crochetme.com/June_July_2005/patt_flowers.htm

Here's a complicated looking one: http://www.fablehandmadegoods.com/Crochetpattern-passionflower.html
