Hello!  I posted this on crochetville, too - but I figured there might be more Cthulu fans on here Wink
I am not a Sci-Fi reader, but one of my coworkers totally is. He's obsessed with the classics - especially HP Lovecraft and this character/god named Cthulu. He's been working like crazy on a project for me and helping me immensely. In the meantime, he hurt his back and has a pinched nerve- and is attempting to work even though he's in a lot of pain

Anyway, I wanted to make him smile, so I looked up cthulu on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulu and decided to crochet a version for his desk...
Here are the pics... I showed him "creeping up" on my cat to make it more interesting.

thats perfect! while i'm not a particular HP Lovecraft fan, i know my dad would love this, he's constantly bringing Cthulu up in conversation (somehow) you did a great job, and i'm sure it'll make your coworker very happy
and p.s. your cat is so cute

o.k. -- a good friend who's married to a major sci fi fan is going to have a baby.   I'm now going to be asking myself if a cthulu ami in the crib is a totally wrong, or totally right, idea.   Wink

It could work.  One of my friends' lil ones loves his cthulu doll http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=TYVHP003
but my guess is that you have to be careful about the tentacles...
Then again, I made a devil baby hat for my nephew. (scroll down on my blog) http://oneflewoverthecrochethook.blogspot.com/

but yeah - even if it isn't "right" for the baby's crib, the parents might love having it and get a kick out of it.

I love Cthulu.  That looks awesome!

I have been wanting to make a Cthulu craft of some sort for a while.
I have been thinking of maybe making a shirt or something based off the Hello Cthulu series (oh, you dont know what Hello Cthulu is??? http://www.hello-cthulhu.com/?date=2003-11-30, yes, read and enjoy, or ELSE!)

Ah hem...anyways.  I love it, and I also love the fact that he seems to be trying to overcome your cat.

Hello Cthlulu rocks!

I had seen this before: http://www.stitch-witch.net/cthulu.html
which is cool - but never the comic.  How funny!

And yeah- he may be little, but he still is sinister and sly.

A Hello Cthulu shirt would be great.  You could stencil or silk screen it.

oh - and cranteach - maybe your friend would like this for the baby!

Oh my! I am sure the tentacled evil one would slime me for saying this, but he is TOOOOO CUTE!!!

Did you just make him up? Any chance of getting a pattern?

(pleaseplease) hehe

knittinkitty- I made him up as I went along, but I'd be happy to try to flesh out some sort of pattern...

Lemme work on it tonight.   Smiley

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

I'm adding wings to him today.
