any idea how to make it? im pretty sure i know how to make the top, because i can see that it ties with a bow in the back, but as for the bottom, i really have no idea how to make it - i've searched everywhere and can't figure out how it would close. i'm guessing a zipper, but i'd like a second opinion. thanks!

MINE: i'm not too fond of it, and i don't think i'll wear it, but it was worth a try.

If the back is open between the top and bottom parts, then I'm guessing it doesn't have any kind of extra closure. The angle from the front to back would make it plenty big enough to step into.

If at first you don't succeed, go buy more fabric.

Can't see the back, but it looks like it should just be a bunch of fabric gathered to that diamond in front and then a seam sewn in back where the two pieces would meet, and the hem evened off to account for the odd angle of the fabric.  (Can't see the bottom either, so have no idea what the hem looks like.)

Yah, the drape looks like it would be big enough to step into, and then close the top up. Cool dress!

Pieces like that are too-good-to-be-true.  I'd say there's double-sided tape EVERYWHERE! lol

Ok, until I can get picture in I will try to explain.

Imagine the beginings of the infinity dress featured on here somewhere. But as all one piece so you will have a shape like an opened out (unsewn) skirt and from the middle of that shape going up you will have 2 really long "straps". cross one "strap" infront of the other as close the where they meet the other fabric as possible. Where they have folded will create the pleats that you see at the front part of the skirt as you have forced the fabric to change shape. Where the straps cross each other sew along all these sides. This will create the diamond shape at the front (this is not a separate piece). Does any of this make any sense?
Now, where the straps are now will help to form the covering of the breasts. But this part looks quite formed and I reckon there's cups sewn in there so you will have to get some of these in your size.
You will probably need help fitting this to your self (unless you have a dress from). As you kind of nee dto size the breasts at the same time as the waist. But  Ireckon this could be done quite nicely.
Hope this  makes sense and good luck!!
PS I will try and get that stupid picture up!)

ok. so this is my theory as to how this dress is going to work out. the only thing i'm not sure of is if the bottom part is somehow one piece, or if it's 2 pieces the way it's shown here:

the front would be gather up to be sewn into the diamond, therefore the bottom would end up being straight, not diagonal.
would this work?
thanks to all who have replied!

um, why don't you like your version?

It looks pretty cute from what I can see, but I know pictures can lie.

I like the halter style more than the original though : )
