I don't know but I think it looks fantastic on you. It looks like the fabric is a lot thicker so maybe that's why it didn't work like u wanted but I still think it's great.

That dress is gorgeous.  Way better (and more wearable) than the original.  And it looks incredible on you!  Whenever I make dresses, I always end up botching the fit just a little bit and never wanting to finish it, so I know how you feel, vis-a-vis not being totally happy with it.  On the hem issue, I would just unpick the hem you've got and hand stitch it.  It'll be easier than fighting an unwilling sewing machine in the long run.  I'd hate to see a dress that pretty go unworn because of the hem!

Girl, why don't you hand stitch the hem? You can ever do it delicately enough so you don't even see the hem stitches on the right side. You basically thread through one thread of the fabric with your needle on the wrong side. I would make the stitches about a third of a cm apart. My Mom used to have to make all my dresses (tall girl over here), and made me hem them. Smiley

It's a beautiful dress on you, the color is fabulous-- I hope you can get it so that you are happy with it.
