Im kinda anti-pattern ussually, im also a big time "instant gratification" knitter. i play more with interesting stitch patterns than actual "patterns". Ive got a teddy bear who ripped her original shirt so im makin her a sample.

is there any reason i cant knit the body in one piece?

knit bottom up until i get to the brown, then work as individual pieces, and make the split in the middle of a rib pattern (pp, k*split*k,pp), 3 needle bind off the circled stitches (shoulder)and then join the remaining stitches for the collar.

did that make sense? will that work?

No reason at all that shouldn't work, and I was going to suggest it in my last post, but I actually rather enjoy testing my mattress-stitching skills, and prefer to work with smaller pieces, so I figured if you liked doing the whole-body thing, you'd figure it out on your own.  Wink

sounds good, i KNOW my mattress stitch skills are sketchy so whole body good ness is best for me. i think ill pick up a skein of malabrigio worsted to knit a swatch on tuesday...figure out how much i need...and get to stitching. im excited. im in desperate need of a good winter sweater and im kinda getting tired of the old cotton hoodies i wore EVERY SINGLE DAY of my high school carreer that i THANK GOODNESS just finished. if this turns out i can totally see myself knitting one up in every color.

If you happen to live near an Anthropologie (I should be so lucky...) you might check out theirs, and take an unobtrusive retractable measuring tape with you, just to see how their sizes compare to actual inches.  That way you might have less adjusting to do to account for wearing it over things.  That's the part I hate.
