I was so intrigued by Ralphs' post earlier in the month about the Tree of Life pendent (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=111136.0.  I immediately thought that it would be so cool as a suncatcher or wall hanging.  However, I didn't get a chance to go down to my favourite bead store until this past Thursday to pick up some large size macrame rings, and some more wire, as most of mine is very fine gauge for crocheting.

I really like it with the macrame rings - they are so sturdy.

Here is my first trial, a 4 inch version.  I have 8-9 inch rings too, but I like the 4 inch as well, so I will likely make another two of it in different colours and hand them together as a set for myself - wow, for once I am making something for myself - that almost never happens!

Here are the other ones I made that evening.  I want to make more, but I ran out of chips.  Will have to make a run to the bead store tomorrow on my lunch break.

There's one more too - but I can't find the pic.

The smaller 4 inch ones I am keeping for myself (so she says now).  I want to make 4 in total.  One with pale green leaves, and some bare wire limbs with seed beads in green to symbolize spring, and buds starting, the green with the pink for summer and fruit ready, or flowers in bloom, and the one with the reds and ambers for fall, and the fourth one with some more exposed branches, and white and clear chips for snow and ice for winter.

I'm also playing with the idea or making a dimensional wire holder from a thicker wire, like 16-18 guage to hold a votive candle.

these are really amazing. I like these better than the original because the stones feel more leaflike and less cluttery when they're not "oversized" in comparison to the tree.
