some socks I just finished!

they are made out of merino wool and they are really thick and soft, but I'm probably going to wear them more like slippers (only while lounging around the house) as they're bulky and probably not so durable.

these are the first socks I've ever made. Now I just want to start another pair!

those are great!  I am still very much in awe of sock-makers, since I have yet to attempt them...

They look so comfy - perfect for in the morning on cold tile floors.  They make me happy too - as does the bright green chicken lamp.

if you want to make (another pair of) socks out of merino, its helpful to make them with reinforced heels/toes on the smallest needles possible (firm fabric= wears better).

those look so much better than my first pair of socks....which were so big (and i didnt notice till the first was done) that i had to give them to a friend.

check out the six-socks along on yahoo groups.  socks are addictive!

thanks guys! as you can probably tell, I really like bright colors. (they make me happy, too.) so i chose the brightest colors I could find for this project.

i painted the bright green chicken lamp myself. Found it in my garage, repainted it (it was an ugly brown color), and yay! it kinda doesn't match the tapestry it's behind, but that's cause i'm subletting for the summer in a small-ish room where I  can't fit all my junk properly! I love it, and was very insulted when my boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) told me he had always hated it, after we had been together more than a year.

oh yeah, thanks for the tip, midnightsky, maybe I'll try that next time.

Ooh, I love the color combination! Making socks makes me think about buying Birkenstocks.

I am literally swooning over your lime green chicken lamp.  I am obsessed with chickens! but not the country-kitchy style that you see everywhere. I never would have thought about painting one like that! Good thing that boyfriend is history.
