Hey all!

I've been on Craftster for 2 years, sewing since I was a teenager, but (like a lot of curvier and plus-sized women) have always had a bit of trouble finding patterns that I've really liked or could get to fit me withotu a ton of altering.

Wellll.... I found one!  This is a Retro Butterick pattern that I picked up because of my love of vintage clothing, the fact that the sizing went up to their size 22, and it was labelled "Fast & Easy."  The hardest part in this was hemming the circle skirt (I have no patience...)

After the ramble, here are a few pics.... please excuse the wrinkles in the dress.  I had gone on a picnic earlier that day with my boyfriend.  Ya know how that goes  Wink

oh that's cute! it looks fabulous!

i have a similar pattern, though i don't think it's butterick (they're expensive and harder to find here). i've been thinking about it, but it takes a ton of fabric. does the butterick pattern as well?

Thank you so much everybody!  I really appreciate all the compliments Smiley  Such a fun dress to make, too...

crafty_dame -- the dress took about 5 yards of fabric, but most of it was for the full circle skirt.  You could cut out a lot of it by reducing the fullness.  Oh--and I normally can't afford Butterick patterns, either.  I waited until there was a sale and bought a few in the Retro line.

the stores i shop at don't even carry butterick, i can only get them at the fancy fabric store that never has sales! mine must be a simplicity or a mccalls. probably mccalls, they seem to have more vintage patterns.

does yours close with hooks? i think the pattern i have ties... i like the hooks better!

You can't really tell from the picture, but there are two buttons on the front of the dress that are supposed to be there for decoration with snaps on the inside.  I couldn't ever get the snaps to stay closed, so I actually made buttonholes (the horror!  the horror!)  But I'd think hooks and eyes would work almost as well.

Wow! That is a nice design that really works for you, kitschykraftkitten! The black trim is what really stands out to me.
