Please excuse me if this question has been posted before.  Here is the story...

I have just quit smoking and I need someting portable to lug to friends houses or when I am sitting at the boyfriend's house.  I have a little embroider kit, so I thought that would work.  I have done the tea towel thing and enough onsies to dress the city.  Any other cool ideas?   I can sew, and have done purses with my stuff on it.  Perhaps anything I can turn into Christmas presents??

Thank you

How about a quilt?

Here is one I made.  It wasn't hard. Actually this is my first quilt! The embroidered squares are muslin.  In hindsight I should have used white fabric so it would match better, but for my first quilt I cannot complain too much! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=110357.0

My MIL was in the hospital for almost two weeks while I was working on this and I was able to prepare the squares to embroider on at home and bring them to the hospital.

What about totebags, boxer shorts, t-shirts. If you wanted to hang a banner you could get one from Sublime Stitching. They were having a sale on them.

if you're thinking christmas, you can do like i'm doing and make yourself/someone special (i'm doing it for both hubby & myself) and make stockings. i'm in the process of making the stocking pattern and cross stitch pattern now. what i'm going to do is cross stitch w/ waste fabric onto good velvet or something then stitch it up to make a stocking.

i also just quit smoking and this is good, because i can still concentrate on other things while i'm embroidering/cross stitch, so i'm not lost in my own crafty world. what's good about doing something for christmas is that i have a deadline so i have incentive to pick it up more often.

Looking to do a personal swap for any boyish nursery print flannels! I can send polymer clay charms, purses, paper crafts, microscope slide pendant kit, and a lot more.

Great ideas!

PinkyK your quilt has inspired me!  Squares would be easy to tote around and finish!
Thank you ladies so much!
