So I've been on a bit of a craft book spree lately.

Today I bought Alterna Crafts (which may be in my top 5 fav crafts books ever) and Sew Subversive.

I'm a bit too long in the tooth to pull off wearing some of the clothes, but I did but it specifically for one cool project:

Putting ears on hoodies. CUTE!!!!!!  I'll post a photo when I get that project done.

Thanks for the kudos, nasty_wench! We (the Sew Subversive Girls or Stitch B*tches, as we call ourselves) are working on a second book, so any and all feedback is welcome!

It's a very exciting time out there for crafty books! There are so many great ones to be read! HURRAY!!!

If you're in Seattle, the Sew Subversive ladies will be at Stitches on Monday, September 25th!!

Coinciding with the release of their book, Sew Subversive: Down & Dirty DIY for the Fabulous Fashionista, three life long friends are out to refashion America one closet at a time. The Authors, Melissa Rannels, Hope Meng, and Melissa Alvarado will be at Stitches on September 25th, from 5:00 - 8:00pm for a book signing and meet n' greet. Fashion is what you make it, not what you can buy off the rack. Sew Subversive is about making fashion your way, whether its embellishing or customizing shirts, skirts, or pants you bought at the store to make them uniquely your own, or transforming clothes that have lost that lovin feeling into something completely different and absolutely you: t-shirts into skirts, sweaters into hats and leg warmers, pants into hipbelts. Dont settle for what everyone else hassubvert fashion and sew subversively!  The first 25 customers to purchase the book will also receive a gift bag, complete with vintage t-shirt ready to be refashioned in their own style.

Happy stitching!
