I made this for the Ocean Friend Swap.
My partner asked for a Tote and I'm not a tote bag girl, but I decided to try a new design.
So, I came up with this:
And then I decorated with this felt sea turtle and lined with some fish fabric I bought:

I made a smaller version with some left over yarn I had laying around:

Ok, I've translated the directions for anyone who wants to try this. English is not my first language, so.. give me some slack here

It's quite simple, perfect bag for begginers.
Instructions (for the bigger version):
9 mm needles
Worsted weight yarn ( I felted/fulled it a little bit to tighten up the stitches)
MAKE TWO
CO 70 sts
Knit in st st for 6 rows (or desired length for the handle, remember that it’s going to curl)
Next Round (RS): k10, BO 50 sts, k10
Next round (WS):p10, CO 20 sts, p10
Continue to knit until you have 20 cm (or desired length) from the top of the bag (without the handle), ending with a RS row.
Bottom Shaping:p10, place marker, p20, place marker, p10
Next round (RS): k2tog before and after each marker.
Repeat the last two rows until you have 4 sts left before the first marker and after the last one.
Pass the yarn between the live sts and reserve.
After you make the second half of the bag, place the first one (that you reserved) on the needles, front sides facing and do the 3 needle bind off (this way you’ll have the bottoms placed together).
Sew the sides and voilá! A tote bag

You can sew the bottoms if you don’t like the 3 needle BO method, but I think it looks prettier this way.
