So, I'd already finished my 1000 paper cranes and was waiting for a chance to find a hunking big branch to hang them from, when I realized that I actually had more cranes and a small branch already lying around.  I had already perfected my crane-stringing technique and decided to make a quick mobile for my friend's birthday:

I used plain thread to string the cranes, spacing them with beads, sequins, and the odd button or two. I then broke the branch in half, wrapped copper wire around it, and hung the four strings with copper wire off the crossed branches.

Sorry for the blurry, dim picture, but I gave it to my friend the night I made it.

Hey hey, this looks beautiful! And kudos for actually folding 1000 cranes, I keep telling myself I will but then I find some other awesome design and get completely and utterly distracted...my latest obsession has been this absolutely gorgeously simple dove. I fold it all the time. I was thinking  if I really want to do the whole 1000 I'd buy a special pack of 1000 that I saw at a local asian novelty store...it went through the whole rainbow!!

Origami is great! Grin
