anyone around the broad ripple area?

my friend and i are going to try and start a craft night, and would be interested in meeting other 20-something girls with the same interests.

I'm right smack dab in the middle of broad ripple. I tried going to the Monon stitch and bitch but no one ever showed up but me. I do all sorts of crafty stuff. I work at Sunflower Market, and I'd sure they'd be down for having meetings there.

Ohhhhhh that would be excellent. I'm quite new to Indy and haven't made friends very quickly.  I go to Herron and work at Sunflower Market! I love new people.

I just noticed that you are quite knit obsessed. (by looking at old posts) I've been knitting for about three years but have never had the guts to try anything TANGY.  WE should try and get a group of people together for a knitting group and then everyone could help me learn to cable. I'd love to have a group in town. Just let me know if anyone is interested and then I'll make a general post about it. We could either do it downtown or in Broad Ripple. Whatever works for everyone else! I used to attend a small one at the Monon but it flopped pretty quickly....boo.

Although since September I am no longer considered a tweny-something, I am a LOT of fun and still a Rippilian after all these years.  I am an art student (on break) from Herron and making way more suff out of shool than in!  I am looking to start selling my handbags and have just discovered the joys of sewing.  I would love to learn to knit (it is next on my list) and I make books, paint, make paper, printmaking and all sorts of stuff.  I love it all!!!

AND-- ShelbyBelby, you should def learn to knit. It is the most relaxing thing I HAVE EVER learned to do and it's instant gratification. Huzzah for cool knitters.

Impossible Princess-- I'd LOVE to get a lot of people together and meet up sometime, I'm next off on Tuesday of next week. I'm always free after eight. Right now I'm working two jobs and doing part time school, so I'm normally pretty busy, but let me know when you're free and I will work something out. We could go look at yarn porn at mass ave. knits or the golden thimble here in broad ripple (i'm feeling it)

Hahahaha, I know, everytime I go to knitty I get freaked out to see my itty bitty corner of the world out there.
The art festival is HUGE, though, people from all over the country show up. If you're ever in the area you should def check out the Art Center (which is where the festival is held) You can always catch a (free) live glass blowing class or other such fun stuff. PLUS the grounds are beautiful and on the river and peaceful and they have cool permanent outdoor displays. (think Robert-Smith esque)

wheww....done now.

I'm about 10 miles from Broad Ripple.  A craft night would be ace!  Would it be normal crafts or cool, craftster-type crafts?

I think it could/should be both. I'm into knitting and then I'm into really crazy strange things like chair upholstery, rubber stamp making, lots of cool clothes sewing, recyclable type crafts, jewelry, mosaics....almost everything actually. I just got a new apartment at 50th and Broadway and I'm moving in in a few weeks and i'm going from about 500 sq feet to 1500 sq ft so I am excited to be getting my own craft rooom!!! We could definitely do all types of crazy large things there. Knitting is good for coffee shops, but every knitting group i've ever belonged to in this town has flopped. It's funny, b/c I used to live in Richmond (IN smalll) and I belonged to a super awesome meet all of the time knitting group. hmmm, we will see who actually gets back to me on this, but you all are invited to tell me when your free and then we can have an actual craftster Indy meet up!!! huzzah.

Okay...I finally got around to teaching myself to knit and I'm hooked!  I love it - something I can make and take anywhere!

Anyone still interested in a group?  I sew, make paper, bookbind, draw, paint and now I knit......I pretty much just like to create.  Anyone else want to join up?

What do you like to do?  Or learn or collaborate or do?  I'd love to have someone to craft around!

I know it's been a while since anyone's posted here, but I'd totally be interested in a group of Craftster-minded individuals crafting it up together.

I'm a crocheter and Broad Ripple, Castleton, Lawrence are all convenient to me...I would even go as far west as Marian College.

Maybe we should all say what time frame would be best?

I'm pretty flexible, but I can almost guarantee that Monday nights would always work for me.

Happy crafting!
