Hi all - it's my first craftster post/project. Drumroll, please...

Some friends needs a menorah for Hannukah (pronto!), so I made one yesterday afternoon. Check it out:

Enjoy!

Very cool!

Did you clear coat the copper, or are you leaving it to oxidize naturally? It might look cool to patina the copper pipe before gluing. There are so many coloration options for copper because it is so reacitve. The steel washers add a nice color contrast as well. Liver of Sulphured black piping with the steel washers would be a nice look as well.

did anyone see the menorah in the last readymade magazine?  It was made out of clear acrilic...it was so cool that you could leave it out all year long!  I'm not jewish but these menorahs are so pretty that I might have to make one too!

Love the Menorah!
But what I really need to know is more about the giant clam in the background of your yarn swift project  Smiley

Oh wow!  That is really nice.

(I have a preference for the ones that are lower like that...the candles are less likely to fall and burn your house down.)  Wink

I didn't coat the copper in any way... it'll oxidize eventually, but probably not too fast since it'll be kept indoors.

As for the giant clamshell, it was abandoned one day in the trash in my neighborhood and I claimed it. Probably shoulda left it there, since it's metal and heavy and just collecting dust. It's yours if you come get it Smiley

Cheers,

I made one, finally, out of clay and Raku fired it in class. If you need more ideas for a Moenorah go to menorah.com. There are some interesting ones.
