to answer your question, i think its called veil stitch or elongated crossed garter stitch...once you get the hang of it,it is super easy...gettin the hang is the hard part Undecided

so, i attempted this once again...the stitch was correct and i have a front and back panel....one is wwwwwaaaayyyyyy shorter than the other...same amt of rows tho'.  i can figure it out.  so, i will keep trying, and maybe, just maybe, someday i will have this marvelous tankie!  or maybe i am not destined to have it....hmmm.  the knitting gods are not willing it upon me!  but i am glad that i have learned the stitch...i keep trying to do it on other unfinished works...its a fun stitch.  i hope all of you have better luck with the length of the tank....and i hope to see more sooooooon!

tal

ps.  i hope i am not dummmm for not being able to get the length right???!  i know that it should be simple...and if it is the same amt of rows, maybe i was knitting tighter on one or the other....hmmm any ideas?  but that shouldnt matter with this stitch.  i am baffled i guess.  i need to stop knitting and go to sleep!  peace to you crafty peeps!
