For those in the finishing stages - you can complete your hat with needle felting or you may choose to add a wet felted finish.

Enchanted Wool has begun Feltalong #9 Wet felting finish for a needle felted hat  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=125678.0

Do post your inprogress work, questions in either this topic or #9 - as appropriate. And all completed work in the Hat Gallery.  Thanks.

Here's my hat in progress, it doesn't look like much at the moment

It's going to be a bucket hat, I'm thinking of wrapping a ribbon around it for embellishment.  Simple but elegant?  It's a little big right now, my hat form was a tad large.  So I'm going to get it wet to finish.  It feels luscious though, I love alpaca!

Okay...I didn't want to post these because I had been sick and had no makeup on in these photos, but here goes...

This is my red NF Cloche hat.  Lacking one final layer, a good finishing needle and some embellishment.

I give ALL credit to GraceOblivious for this work...she is my mentor, my muse and my benefactor in felting!

Love ya, GO!!!

That red hat is delicious, RM!  It looks so great on you, but I still think it will look even better on me, right?

Kidding.  Love it.  Love the hat, love the red, love ya girl!

Thanks, OY...you too!

Unfortunately, I was probably sick because of the stupid wool allergy!  I have a super generous lady sending me some Llama fiber to try for free!  (The theory is that Llamas don't produce lanolin, thus the reduction in dust mites.)  Is that sweet of her or what?  (People on the Texas Fiber Guild boards are so nice!)

Okay...enough off topic for me...I'll post the results of the Llama felting on a separate thread to let you all know the results. (easy/hard to felt, better/worse on allergies, look/feel of the final product, etc.)

Later,
RM

Radal16 - what a pretty gray, finishing with wet felting sounds like a great choice to smooth and thighten your soft alpaca fiber.

RecycleMicol -  Zowie!  Fabulous style and wonderful tight felt.  Drats about the wool allergey - hmm sometimes putting things in the freezer helps with mite control - I wonder if that would help?  You do such beautiful felting, sure hope you can overcome the problem.  And, aww, thanks for the very kind words.

Hey guys,
I just found out about a weekend class in Westmont, IL that are doing felt hats if anyone is interested.

The info is in the new thread "What's on? Where are you from?"
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=128829.msg1249603#msg1249603

The thread is for any classes or events that are happening anywhere in the globe, so if you know of any, let me know!
Also, I'm putting together a list of where everyone is globally in the hopes that more felty people can find each other and hook up.
