!

Texas - A lone star state t-shirt...I actually have one and I got tons of smiles or looks from it Smiley
Fix things - A nuts and bolt key chain...I saw one on etsy...I'm not saying to copy it but to think of one on your own!
Sew and Knit AND from Texas?  How cool is that?  I'm trying not to be statist here but wow...that's so cool!!!  NO ideas on this one except to find some cool yarn or fabrics he might like...sort of a crafting box.  SO cool!!!
Cook - I LOVE utensils and gadgets that can fit in a bucket by the stove.  You could paint the lone star (too cute?) on the bucket and then add some great utensils.  I noticed you're from Seattle and the Japanese store Daiso (sp?) at alderwood (by Sears and you could look at tools there too) has amazing prices on all things kitchen.  I took the bus there once and it was $2.25 from downtown (each way).   Awesome store cuz it's like a Japanese dollar store except everything is $1.50 ish up to the most being $9.00.
Ties - awesome tie clip?  Or money clip?
Mexican Food - chile pepper selection for cooking along with homemade tortillas...I suggest the Maza brand (stay away from quaker) and it's awesome!!!  I get it in Greenwood.  Sometimes Fred Meyer has it.
Scrabble and Chess - How about the nuts and bolts chess set...a game timer or something like that?

Also...NEVER forget about Archie Mcphees!!!    Good luck!!!

I'd get him some really nice knitting needles and yarn and a knitting book. Really encourage his crafty side Tongue  But the chess set is an awesome idea. I wish I could make my boy a chess set, he would love it.
