Just wondering what you all make your MIL's?

I adore mine, she's the sweetest person in the world, and I actually get on with her better than my own mother.  My MIL loves anything I make, and I already made her a quilt.. but if you have any ideas, I'd appreciate them.

I do quilting, sewing, digital art, pen and paper art, beading, heck, there's not too much I don't try.

Sounds like me, as well lol.
I made my MIL this set for her birthday this year. She's a big Ducks fan, so I made her a set for when the games get colder. It's a Harry Potter style scarf (just in Ducks colors), a hat to match, and some fingerless gloves as well.

She loves it.
We've also made her jewelry sets. I can't think of what else we've done, so far. Mind's gone blank. Hope it helped some, though

Sorry I've been gone so long. Am trying to get back on the boards. Body's thrown me for a few loops these past months and am still learning to adjust. Thanks for your patience.

My MIL is terrific.  Once, after she had redecorated,  I made her a big set of placemats and napkins to go in her dining room.  She really liked this gift and we had talked about it beforehand because I didn't want to make such a big project without making sure she wanted it.

Once she made me a beaded bracelet, It is lovely.

(Edited to add:) I also once made some jazzed up pillow cases.  I got some nice quality white pillowcases and stitched on rick-rack stripes in colors that match her bedroom.  (I adore rick rack, but it isn't for everyone)

oh those are cute ideas!

I do like them, I might be able to do something to go in her room, like pillowcases to match.. and I might be able to practise my knitting/crochet!

I had to do a double take when I saw that! Huzzah UO!

I've made a variety of things for TheBoy's mom and grandmother. Jewelry, knitted goods, paper cuts for hanging on the walls, garden-y things...Sounds like she'll love anything you put your time into though!

My MIL is a great person too!

She seems to love anything I make for her. I have made her a stationery set, knitted slippers, a knit lace scarf (this one: http://www.straw.com/cpy/cpy9612.html), and a set of embroidered tea towels.

One year I made her a Christmas ornament that was a miniature model of their A-frame house complete with Christmas tree inside and battery powered Christmas lights on the roof. That was my favorite, I wish I had taken pictures of it to post.

This year I am knitting her an afghan for their living room. I'll also probably make her the bolero jacket from Happy Hooker. She really liked the one I made for my niece.

Isn't it nice to have in-laws that aren't a nightmare? I feel really lucky!

oh I know! I feel so blessed to have her, she's so much more than a MIL to me, she's like my own mother.

I think I'm going to go with a quilted stocking for her this year, and I'll fill it up with little goodies I make

Pen and paper art reminded me of this artist's work I recently saw in a magazine (probably some type of Martha magazine of my mom's!). Her stuff is at www.laurazeck.com/shortstories. What she does (as you'll see) is put together a series of images to tell a "visual short story." If you're good with ink, you could definitely do your own one for your mother in law. Matte it, frame it, and beautiful present!
