I found pictures of the original, and downloaded and uploaded them for your viewing pleasure.

Without further ado, the original purse(s) I sought to replicate:

And here's a cute smaller one:

I really liked the black piping, but alas; I had no black vinyl piping, and far be it for me to make some.  You've got to be kidding!

Let's try this again.  And I won't tab to the "post" button just yet.

Anyway, I'm so proud of how this bag turned out.  Here's a picture of me sporting it:

It's made of black and white vinyl.  The eye patches are E6000ed on, and I hope they last.  The eyeballs are buttons, also glued on.  The handle is cute black and white ribbon, not that you can see it really well.  And the zipper tab?

Well, as you can see, I E6000ed a button to the zipper tab so that it's now a PANDA!

Of course.

Here's a front view:

It's pretty big, as you can see in the first picture.

This was inspired by baby Tai Shan, of the National Zoo.  I've been following the Panda Cam since last fall. He was born in July/August (darn -- can't remember) and has grown from the size of a stick of butter up to a climbing, bamboo-eating sweet boy.

Unfortunately, I was inspired by a pre-existing bag.  I wanted to buy it for a colleague who has been even more obsessed with Tai Shan than I.  Of course, it was a big too expensive, but really, I knew I could make it myself.  So when I left my last job, I gave this to her as a farewell present.  She couldn't believe I'd made it, for her, etc.

I'm just really pleased with how it turned out.  I'm looking for a link to the original.  They seem to have taken it down from the zoo store.

Stay tuned.

Here are two of the bags on ebay -- small and medium.  Mine is much bigger, methinks.

So cute!  I love it.  Love the size too.  Is vinyl hard to work with?
