I was wondering what the process for getting a business license is in Nevada. I know how to register a name, but that's the only info I have found so far and understood. Why is everything so complicated, especially when it has to do with government??? Argh!
So if anyone has done it recently, can you give me any links or info. I have done the whole business thing in Canada, but everything is different here (incluiding the letter Z) so any help would be appreciated!
THANKS

I haven't done it in Las Vegas yet, but in St. Louis getting a retail business license was pretty damned easy.

Did you look here:

http://sos.state.nv.us/
Specifically
http://sos.state.nv.us/comm_rec/crforms/crforms.htm

Dig around in there and see if you can't find some info. Are you looking to incorporate, go LLC... ?

Whatever you do, don't forget that this state is crazy. If you are actually going to sell anything you have to have a State Licence and the City/County thing too. What a hassle. My hubby did mine for me, but...

helloo, I saw this and thought I would help you out. I just renewed all my licenses this month. The first thing you have to do is get a Federal tax ID, they are 10 bucks.

YOu need State, county, and local business licenses, which is pricy, just under $300 for all 3.  You can get online and get the state license easily, it is $100. County may also be online for you, just search online for your county's business license division, it is easy enough. Local license divisions tend to be a bit backwards, so you will probably have to call them to have them send you the paperwork. they are ususally very friendly about it, so there is no hassle.

State and county licenses are really fast. The city one will take about a month or so because you have to deal with specific zoning issues and such. But, the annual renewal is super fast!

Don't try to go through weird business sites for the licenses, it is alot easier to just deal with the individual government run sites.

Hope that helps you Smiley

I like making stuff. Rumor has it, I'm an elf. Like a Santa Elf, not one of those elegant LOTR types.  Mostly because I compulsively craft and partially because I have green shoes.

Weird, mine was $10. Maybe they liked you more?
