Hi all...
Normally I am a lurker around here...I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for a college-apartment warming gifts?  In a few weeks I am going to visit a good friend and staying with her and her roommates (who I don't know) and I want to bring them something fun for their apt.  I am traveling on an airplane so it has to be pretty portable.

I can do basic sewing...painting...collage...beading...etc. so any ideas would be helpful!!  Thanks!

Not sure how portable this is but you could maybe use armour-etch on some glasses (possibly shot glasses for size reasons), as glasses always come in handy.

You could make a clock (record clock), or personalise a game (give Monopoly some local flair?), some fridge magnets.

Hopefully this will either give you a gift idea, or some inspiration for some other ideas!

Make a few posters or hand-sew some wall hangings (I've done these, they tend to be major hits). Sometimes the walls are fugly and need some prettying up.

Find out some of the stuff your friend and roomates have in common.  You could do some embroidered tea towels or sew some pot holders out of felt (I was going to suggest felting them but you don't knit) with things relating to their common interests, just make sure you do a test run on the potholders in case they arent thick enough.  The record clock is also an awesome idea, and pretty versatile in terms of interests, unless they have some sort of designer decor or something, but it's definately fun.

How about a painting of the two of you or a scrapbook maybe. I've just started college too so I know that personal gifts mean so much if you're home sick.
