In an episode of Rescue Me, Dennis Leary curls up with a red and white granny square afghan. It inspired me to get going on mine...

I just finally watched the Tim Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (i waited a while because it looked creepy, though i LOVE tim burton, and if you like tim burton, this movie is so cool... and johnny depp makes it that much better) but anyway lol, everytime they show Charlie in his home with his grandparents, his grandmother is not only always crocheting, but in every scene she has a different crocheted hat on.

Yes yes you beat me to it, i was just going to comment on this... i love that movie, specially cause they included crochet  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

there is another that's so raven episode on the disney channel where the main characters get jobs doing phone psychics and the raven character is crocheting what looks like a scarf. From what I could tell she was really doing the stitches. There was also a sabrina the teenage witch episode once where one of the aunts was suppose to be crocheting but you could tell she wasn't really doing anything but moving the needle.

in wife swap the other day one of the "kids" (an older teen girl) was shown crocheting. the narrarator referred to her "knitting" though.

I've been rereading the "Little House" books and Laura and Mary seem to crochet a lot of lace.

I'm glad to see all the responses. I remember Roseanne's afghan and Laura and Mary crocheting lace, but I watched Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I didn't even notice the crochet--that is, I have a vague mental picture of it, but it didn't click at the time. I've been meaning to watch Spiderman since it was in theaters, so I'll look for the crochet there and I'm going to be on the lookout for more instances.

(FWIW, I reread all the Little House books earlier this year and they mention a lot of crafty/DIY stuff; if you enjoy that kind of thing, you might want to check them out--definitely more interesting than the TV show.)

Oooo, oooo, I have one!  My son was watching The Emperor's New Groove(Disney).  In one scene Kuzco(the emperor) and Pacha(pesant) are discussing the green poncho that Pacha's wife made him...  "She knits?"  "Crochets..."  Yay me!

I just remembered!  One night, I was watching the Oblongs on Adult Swim and caught the episode where Milo dresses in drag and joins the Little Amazons.  He starts crocheting and when his father sees him, he asks him to crochet a noose so he can hang himself.

In Amelie, in one scene where Babette is making goo goo eyes at Joseph (i think that's the right guy's name) she's holding a shawl that she's crocheting. (she never actually crochets though.) she wears crocheted shawls during most of the movie.
