sounds as if you're talking about manufactured felt? can't think of what you'd want to mark onto handmade felt but you could probably use a white fabric pencil, the kind you use to draw out a pattern on material.

like JaneDoe pointed out to you previously, this is not a forum to discuss manufactured felt.

Hi,  It is really hard to help you when you do not describe the exact project you need help marking.  Could you share some pictures of what you are doing and what needs to be marked?

Also teamwang is right, if you are asking about marking patterns on craft felt this is not the place to be to get  the help you want.

If you remember in this topic on closing the hole in a toy or doll http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=112540.0  Jane Doe referred you to the FAQ for the felting boards.  If you check there, you may find the appropriate place to look.

It is hard to even direct you to the right place with so little information about what kind of felt, and why you are marking it.

Though, it surely ought to be easy enough to test using the children's chalk on your project.  Much of the felting techniques I do, were learned by trial and error and trial and success.  So give it a go.  Best wishes.
