I made one for my nephew who is as yet unborn.... my sis-in-law is due for a c-section on aug 9 (which is his fathers birthday too). She typically doesn't use "normal" colors, like her daughter was desaturated greens and pinks with brown. Soooo here's what I did for him...

I used Charisma yarn that was at Michaels, which is like mega super soft and squishy and i LOVE IT and highly recommend it. It crocheted up really damn fast!

Now I REALLY want one of these for my son.   Too bad I cant crochet, I'd end up a tangled mess!

@DragonFyre: that looks awesome! I love those colours. I only did a few with solids, but I'll have to give variegated yarn a try as well when I see yours!

@leighi: you don't know until you try  Wink Seriously, the beginning is a bit weird (but there are tutorials for that I believe) and after that it's all right.

The only thing I hate about this blanket is that the further you get the longer it takes to finish a round. I like fast results!

Here is my Star baby blanket!  My friend asked me to make one for her daughter's doll and I did this last night. Used Red Heart super saver yarn and 5.00 hook. I know it should be bigger (only did 11 rows) but didn't have a enough yarn to go another row.  I just finished off with single crochet back loop only to give it a finished look.

I have started yet another starghan and I also taught my daughter how to make one yesterday, instead of showing her how or just giving her the pattern to read I told her step by step how to do it and it worked. She just needs to get her stitches a little tighter

GOOD FOR YOU!!! I can't wait to teach my granddaughter, I had 3 boys and crafting was not a priority, so the granddaughters are going to learn everything! I have one who was due to arrive yesterday but she has decided to be late and make a grand entance on her time. Smiley. the 2 year old already tries, she plays with the hook and yarn when I crochet she has her own!
