make sure that you are skipping the required stitches on each 'concave' or you will end up with a pentagon shape. I hope that helps some

You are not skipping the two stitches in between the points - it should go something like this:
Shell (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), 1 dc into next (4) stitches, skip next two stitches, 1 dc into next (4) stitches, shell...
Of course, the 1 dc into next (4) stitches will increase with each round - this is just an example of the pattern.
Good luck!

Yes, make sure you skip the stitches in the "valleys" and make sure each side of your shell has 3 dc's, not 2. Other than that, it looks really good for this being your first time reading a pattern! (Don't worry, I had to start this thing about 17 times...
it gets easier once you get the pattern down, I swear!)

ok i think I have one last question.
Will I being going through a stitch more than one time... I know at the beginning of course... but I'm running out of stitches which is I beleive why I wasn't skipping any.
But I think its telling me to go through the chains at the hole with all 6 stiches of the shell right'? so it would be 3 stitches per chain at the "points" so to speak. If that is the case, that is definatly where I am making a big error, because I am running out of room for the stiches.
and also. it increases by 2dc on each side of the shell each row right?

Its a total of 6 dc's at each point (hole) with 2 ch in the middle. The entire shell (3dc, ch2, 3dc) goes in that hole.

so basically you add 2dc on either side of the shell (a shell I assume is 3dc -3ch -3dc) and each of these points is seperated by 2 skipped stiches right?
And for every ring you add you just add 2 dc on each side... so 2dc, then 4dc, then 6dc on either side of the shell?
The pattern reads very confusing to me, especially since this the first one i've ever tried to read.
Look closely at the points, you can see the 3dc, ch2, 3dc really well on the right side with the little area of yellow under the purple.
