Here's my little one that is only about two feet across:
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p182/adriennevia/StarAfghan.jpg
It's made with super soft super chunky yarn with an 'N' hook so it's only 8 rounds or so.  I've got a bigger one in the works with the same colors.  And here is photo evidence that a) you should not let clearance bins dictate color combos and b) you should pick color combos whilst sick with a fever.  Yes, it has been frogged because I realized how hideous it was and I'll leave it as a url in case anyone just ate.  Grin

HEY! don't you bash that star afghan, i was considering buying it from the shop the swap!!! but i needed one much bigger (for a gift), so i decided to make one myself... i will say, though, your idea of doing it with thick yarn was a stroke of brilliance (yes, it was a simple thought, but one i had not had and thus, BRILLIANT!) so it allowed me to make a starghan again, which i said i would not do (my daughter's is cute but it drove me insane).

No! I loved the little one! It's the url-only one at the bottom that was hideous. hehe [I have yarn for a bigger one, so PM me if you haven't started yours.]

I had to jump on the band wagon and make a blanket too, it's not very big but it works, I also made a matching hat

I totally love this pattern! I tried it out but ran outta wool Sad I ended up giving it to my baby...a 6 yr old red kelpie Wink I did mine in pure wool and almost felted it. It would make a nice little floor mat.

Okay, so here is my progress picture of my starghan. I am almost 50% finished with it. This is for my future niece or nephew. I want to have it done to give to my brother and his wife for Christmas, so I had to start it now, before they find out the sex of the baby. So, I decided to make a starghan in bright rainbow colors. Bright colors are supposed to be very stimulating to babies, so hopefully they like it. Smiley

I still have to do green, blue, indigo, and violet. I started the yellow last night, and finished it today, leisurely. I'm doing 5 rows of each color. I originally was going to do 10 rows of each color, but decided that would be too big. Anyway, so far the yarn I've used is Red Heart in Hot Red, Bernat Softee Chunky in Hot/Bright Orange, and Caron Simply Soft in Bright yellow. I'm not too worried about gauge or weight, because I'm expecting them to get a lot of use and wash out of it. I'm hoping it will be their all-purpose blanket...floor blanket, crib blanket, carseat blanket. Ironically enough, it sort of matches their nursery. I started on it before they'd decided how they were going to decorate their nursery (underwater theme...my bro loves fish haha).

p.s. The tissue box is to show the size. Hopefully the corners won't curve so much once it's finished.  Undecided

Completely rainbow obsessed SAHM to 3 & hoping to add #4 to our family this fall!

Have old jeans, pillowcases, or t-shirts? I'll take them! I'm also always looking for the sleeves to women's long sleeved shirts!
