Directions:
Round 1: Ch 7, dc in first ch, *ch 3, dc in first ch. Repeat from * 2 times. Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch to join, ch 3. (5 spaces)

-You need to remember that the 7 chains in the beginning should be considered a "dc and ch3"  AND that the "dc in the first ch" : this is the chain nearest to the knot you make when starting your chains.  All dc will be worked in this first ch.

Hope that helps a little

Oh, and I forgot to add a picture of my blanket so far.

I need to get a blue or purple or a blue AND purple, then add another round of White and I'll be done!   I'm at 20 rows so far.

edited to add materials:I used Caron Simply Soft in Papaya, Mango, Lemonade, Limeade, Blue Mint, and Grape (not shown in the picture) and each color is separated by a row of White.  I hope that helps for those who might want to know! Smiley

I just read the pattern, and I'm not sure what "shell" refers to in this pattern...

The shell is 3dc, ch2, 3dc in the chain2 hole at each star point

if you see in the pictures of the blankets, the center has 5 spaces. the very first round is 5DC (this includes the first 3 ch as a double crochet) and 5 chain 3 spaces that you crochet INTO on the next round.

the last CH 3 of round 1 goes into the 3rd ch of your first ch7.

Here is my blanket so far, the lighting is pretty bad because I have to take it from my video, but you get the idea.  This is the blanket on Rnd 18 I think? I'm doing 6 rounds per color.

Hopefully I will get through another 6 with blue and post my progress before the long weekend is done Smiley

I'm making another ALREADY.  Wink

this one is for a friend of a friend. her baby theme is "Classic Pooh Bear" and I'm using TLC Amore in celery, vanilla, and seaglass w/ a J hook.

the colors don't match perfectly to the Pooh theme, but they're as dull (or "classic") as I'm going to go for a baby.

I hope this picture works.  I am now on the purple rounds of my blanket.  The picture has horrible colors, they really look much different.  They are the caron simply soft, so if you know those colors you probably can get an idea Smiley  After purple is done I'm taking a crochet break and knitting something I can finish in a week at the most!  The white part at the top is a ruler for scale.  My big fat kitty is hanging out near the top too.  Don't try to make scale off of him, he's a big boy!
