Okies heres a tut. I had taken some inprogress pictures but some I didn't so I'll have to use finished photo's so that you'll know what I mean. The pattern needs to be regular page sized.

Linked out becasue it's a big file.
Now you'll want to cut those out with some space around the pattern for your seam alouance. I didn't factor that into my pattern I jsut cut them out of the fabric with it.
Once you have done that you should have something like this:

(I forgot my ears and paws don't follow my example)
Flip your fabric so that it's laying with both fuzzy sides facing each other and wrong sides out.
Sew together leaving a small hole to stuff. turn inside out:

Then stuff.
I pinned the edges slightly turned under so it would be easier for sewing:

then whip stich sides together.
and you should have something like this:

Once you've done this with all your peices you can start assembling the rat. I pinned the parts in place first to make sure I put them in the right places.

Then sew them on very carefully. Make sure your stiches are tight. I had to hand sew this. I think I used a whipstich but a blanket stich works fine too.

For the tail I cut three pices of the same fabric and braided them together:

I kntted the wide part and bradied then tied a piece of stray thread around the end when I was done.
here's the finished project:

For the paws I used contrasting fabric but you could do them the same color py laying and pinning the pattern pieces together on the fabric and cut it out as one peice.
I know it's not the most detailed tut but hopefully it helps. if you have any questions on how I did anything let me know.

Aww, that reminds me of a pic I took of one of my rats years ago.

(nevermind the site on the pic, I haven't done anything with that in years, either, haha)

Smiley I miss mine. They both passed away this year. I want more at some point but I really want a guinea pig next.

I miss most of mine, too.  We had 23 at one point [the result of one (huge) accidental litter, and too much compassionate rescuing].  Now we're down to one lonely little old lady (she's 3!), with no plans to get any more until we have more room for them.    Embarrassed

I only had 2. One had cancer and the other we're not sure what happened to. She just never got very big or fattend up. And one day she just curled up and died. She'd been eating good and drinking so I'm not sure what happened. but I miss them both very much. My boy was the older and he was 2 and the little girl was not even a year. (they lived seperatly since I didn't want babies. Smiley But I intend to have another rat at some point. they  are jsut the neatest pets. Smiley

I'm so glad that other people love ratties like I do! My user name is wobble rat because I had the funniest little ratty girl that used to wobble back and forth when she stood still.  So of course her name had to be wobble.  They are such sweet little creatures.

I just found this post, thank you so much for the great tutorial.  you really did a great job capturing the ratty stance!  I can't wait to make it.  Maybe then I won't miss my little ratty girls so much... Cry

thanks again, wobbles  Kiss

Aww, was your little wobbler an albino?  I think those are the ones that usually wave back and forth like that.  Something to do with focusing their eyes.
