Hey whaddya know, there's a whole thread for SNB stuff.  Hopefully the pics are fixed now.

I was horrified when I found this unfinished project from almost two (!!) years ago, so I made a vow to finish it this summer.  I couldn't find the yarn they used in the pattern so I substituted Cascade 220, and just sort of loosely followed the pattern since my gauge and measurements were way off.
Here's before:

And after:

With the lining I made:

And the requisite pose:

This was the first time I've felted anything in the washing machine and I think it worked pretty well, I only had to put it through once. (Hence, it only cost me a dollar).  It could have gone more, but I think it looks good as is.   There are also a few more pictures on my blog, if interested.

Ciao!

This may come as an odd question, but here goes:

How much does your laptop weight and does it stretch the bag/strap much? (that is if you have a laptop that you put in it)  I am about to buy myself a cute 5 lbs sony and have actually been inspired to knit a bag for it (I could buy the Doony and Burke one that Sony sells, but that's $199!!).  I generally don't like knitted bag, but I think it would be a lovely home for such a fragile object Smiley

I love how yours turned out!  I was thinking of making the saucy tote, but it's not felted and it seems like felting might be key here to help it be stiffer.  Plus I'm pretty sure yours is THE CUTEST!

One final question:  was the herrinbone killer?  Or do I just have issues when I try and knit that stitch?

I'm not sure how much my laptop weighs, but it's ancient (and by that I mean 3 years old) so it's fairly heavy.  I haven't yet tried to put it in the laptop bag because I'm afraid it might be too heavy, and also I don't really take my laptop very many places.  I think if you had a 5 lb notebook it would definitely be sturdy enough, just make sure you sew the straps on really well.  If all else fails, I found a really cute laptop case at Target for like $20.

The herringbone wasn't too bad, but for some reason the whole strap was sort of curved, like I was pulling too hard on one edge and not enough on the other.  (Does that make sense?  I guess I mean instead of a straight strap it sort of curved like a C). I finally figured out my tension issues but it definitely wasn't my favorite.  It does look pretty though!

Great picks for colors and even the zipper matches.
