Am I just missing something here?  I can't swap yet, but I've been cruising the swap forum to get an idea of what kinds of things get sent etc.  And EVERY swap I've looked at requires participants to have completed at least two swaps already.  Even the "newbie swap"!  How does this make sense?  Is it going to be really difficult to get my first two swaps?
It seems so counterproductive!   Embarrassed

Hey, there!

Are you sure you aren't reading the Organizer's requirements section that looks something like this?
Quote
Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: N/A
- Is at least 18 years old: YES

 Embarrassed

That's what I get for skimming and not reading carefully!

Glad to know I was WRONG.  I've been assured by my midwife that my normal brain function will return 8-12 weeks postpartum.  Wink

Aww, it's okay!

You're midwife is super sweet, but speaking from experience, I can't say that I believe her.  I'm still waiting for normal brain function to return! Cheesy

I can't find a swap to join. Luckily, the OTT for Zelda was open to newbies, but now that I'm in the middle of my frist swap, I don't qualify for the newbies only swap and all the other swaps are currently 2 previous completed swaps needed to join. This is REALLY frustrating. Is anyone else having this problem?

im just going to quote sweets4ever because its easiest but it sounds like you are reading the requirements for the organizer NOT the participants.  ive rarely ran across a swap that isnt open to pretty much everyone.  there are a few but those are in the minority.

I have the same problem. Granted, I am still in the newbie swap, but once that's done like every other swap that's interesting to me requires me to complete at least 2. Sad

EDIT: Oh! I didn't noticed the organizers part! Well, it's not as discouraging as I had originally thought!

Every swap I want to enter requires me to do 1 or 2 sucessfull swaps. The problem is no swaps allow first timers who never swapped before. so where do I begin?

This question is answered in the Swap FAQ:

03. I want to swap but I'm a newbie and all the swaps say I have had to do one or two swaps previously.  What does this actually mean?

This doesn't mean you have to have already participated in one or two swaps.

The "one swap rule" means that while you are participating in your very first swap you are not allowed to sign up for any more until that first swap has been completed.  After that time, you are allowed to participate in up to five swaps at a time.

The "two swap rule" refers to organizing eligibility.  Before organizing any swap, a member must have participated in two full swaps.

Unless the swap specifically states that first time swappers are not allowed to join, you will be eligible to join if you have met the one month/15 posts minimum.
