I made these 4 bracelets recently:

my friend and I saw some button bracelets at Claire's and thought "hey, we could make that!"  so we did.   Grin  the one with the big buttons is the first one I made with some random buttons that my Nana had.  The other three are a gift for my friend's birthday...amazingl y they're only about a month late!! the non-button one is made out of crayons!

there's some more info on my blog (link in signature)

i haven't worn the crayon one since it's for a friend, but I'm hoping it doesn't leave any marks...I covered the crayons in clear nailpolish, so hopefully that keeps them from marking everything.

Did you use needles to poke the holes in the crayons?

Stupid question I know, but I teach craft classes at the local Y and that would be hella cool for the little ones to make! Plus a great way to get rid of our broken crayons! Hahahaha Cheesy

And you used the stretchy lace stuff, right?

What's the technique for stringing the buttons? I have a bunch of cool buttons I'd love to make into a bracelet...but I can't seem to make it work! They don't lay right...is what I mean.  Undecided

The one with the bigger buttons is my favorite.  I like the colors.   Smiley

thanks for the replies everyone!!

rainesalatte: i used a paperclip to poke holes in the crayons, but i'm sure a needle would work as well.  you have to heat up the paperclip first (i just held it over a candle for a few seconds) or it won't go through th crayon without it breaking.
i used elastic cord on all these bracelets.  as for stringing the buttons...i just threaded the cord up through one hole, and down through the other, if that makes sense.

let me know if you have any more questions!

Sweet! Thanks for the tip.

I'm obsessed with the crayon idea...you could do all sorts of variations!
