Can someone explain what exactly is the technique with magic loop? I am fairly new at knitting and I never heard of it..

I second the knittinghelp.com site. it is a great site to have bookmarked for magic loop and many other techniques.

I'd also like to add a very important tip - magic loop works 1000000 times better if your circular needle has a very flexible cable. it is a breeze with my Addi Turbo's but quite frustrating with my bamboo (Clover brand I think - the ones they sell at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's). I've heard good things about the new needles from Knit Picks.
