Ok, let's see if I can clarify. In the idea thread for this swap the concern was raised that people wanted 12x12" pages, which would only fit into an 8x11" envelope if cut down or folded, essentially ruining the usefulness of a 12x12" page. So the option of sending and receiving 12x15" envelopes was added to the swap -- so people could send 12x12" pages.

I'm assuming this is what's throwing people off? "Sending a 12x15 sized envelope and filling it with 8x11 stuff is just uncool.", let me re-phrase it to say "sending just small stuff is uncool". This is because if you have a partner who's asking for 12x15" because they'd like to receive big sheets of paper and they don't get any at all, it's disappointing.

The majority of the paper does not have to be the size of the envelope. The assumption I had (and it appears most have) is that it's a mixture of bits and bobs of awesome paperness, ranging from the size of the envelope to teensy tiny pieces. I think the thing to keep in mind while making up the envelope is the kazillions of uses for the paper you're sending. There's book-making, scrapbooking, etc for the large sheets and ATCs, collages, origami, etc for the smaller bits. A selection that is useful to many crafts is ideal here.

For example I'm going to be sending: 8x11 sheets of coloured paper, old letterhead from long gone businesses, schematics from an architect's files, pages from books in other languages, postcards, origami paper, mulberry paper, envelopes, paint chip cards, stickers, tissue paper, note paper, greeting cards, lucky star folding strips, some vellum, stamps, finger paint paper, heck, I may toss in a bit of post it notes if I have room. And that's off the top of my head.

Thanks for the clarification! I will just rip out pages of the book then! I collect original vintage ephemera, old books, cards, tickets, bingo cards etc. I like the idea of the surpise too, but will probably clarify if my partner wants things like that or a huge stack of scrap book paper which I have too. Wouldn't want to send the jewels of my stash if someone didn't want it! Can't wait for this to start, thank you for organizing Melesse and clarifying, and clarifying,and clarifying..... :-)

OK I think I will probably sign up for this.  I have a whole shopping bag of free postcards and concert fliers I have picked up around Melbourne as well as some really nice wrapping papers that can be used in journal making/card making and a stash of origami papers.  I also have some obscure/foreign candy wrappers and a collection of easter egg papers (none have any food residue, i swear!)

I live in Australia though.  Has anyone offered to ship internationally yet?
