This is a gift for a friend who is expecting a baby in a couple months. She left the sex of the baby as a surprise so the colors are somewhat unisex. The exterior is a multi-colored and striped upholstery fabric with corduroy for the flap. There are two corduroy elastic pockets on either side of the exterior for bottles. I added a few buttons and a blue ribbon for interest and an exterior zipper pocket for little things. The interior is lined with a bright orange print and beige elastic pockets. I've added a hook strap for her keys so they will be easy to find. The size of the bag is approximately 20"w x 13"h (26"h with strap included) and about 5"d. Her baby shower is tomorrow so i hope she likes it!

that's fantastic! I've been trying to make a diaper bag for my sister who is due at the end of September and I can't work out a decent pattern. Do you think you coud post yours, or at least a few ideas?

Love it!

Such a stylish bag! I love diaper bags that do not LOOK like diaper bags. Your color choices are great, and I love anything with corduroy!

thanks girls. i'll try to get one out, but it's actually very simple. i just used the same pattern as the jordy bag tutorial and added a flap and exterior pockets. i'm glad you like it! thanks for the comments!

what would you all recommend as a closure for the bag itself? or does it need one at all? i left it off because i thought the bag kind of closed itself when it was flapped closed but should it have a button closure? or strap or velcro? what do you think?

Bee-autiful!  I have no use for a diaper bag, but I'm still crazy jealous of your friend.  I'm SUCH a sucker for corduroy!

re: closure... Considering how much stuff gets rammed into a diaper bag and the fact that the bags themselves often get thrown into the back of a car or slung over a stroller back, you may want to add something just to be sure it stays closed no matter what.  I'd definitely suggest velcro or maybe a large magnetic snap, because I think anything visible would just take away from all the pretty detailing.
