My friend is having a baby in February and I am honored to be helping her out with her nursery bedding, diaper bags, slings, etc... so this is my first in a line of many completed projects.  I hope she likes it!  She and I both agree diaper bags are so boring and plain she wanted a sophisticated diaper bag so this is what I came up with.
The front view with two pockets, one zippered and two bottle carriers on the sides:

The back view one pocket:

The inside wth a separate inner zipper, I am going to add a snap in wet bag for the poopy explosion days:

Three pockets on the inside:

Can't wait to get stitching on the rest of the nursery goodies!

That looks awesome.

I, too, am not a fan of the traditional baby diaper bag.  I love using different fabrics for a surprising look and something mom or dad can use long after there are no more diapers.

But I gotta know--how did you do the zippered divider?

Thanks guys!  I sure hope she likes it too!  If not I will gladly take it... sly grin.... I got the pattern from a pattern on www.creativethimble.com  it is called the Professional Tote but I figured it could double as a diaper bag perfectly.

As far as the zippered divider goes cut two main and two lining pieces the same width and a little shorter than the original lining and  attach a main piece and a lining piece to one side of the zipper to make a "sandwich".  Attach two more pieces of fabric in the same fashion to the other side of the zipper.  When you make your sides seams for the lining catch the zippered pocket in the side and bottom seams.  It was really easy and I am sure I am making it sounds really complicated.  I really like the zippered divider it makes the bag so much nicer.

I appreciate that so much!  It sounds like the instructions for making a lined zippered pouch except you don't have to worry about sewing the sides and bottom, as they are caught in the seams.  Perfect.
