Scrap yarn blanket

I decided to actually make my roommates happy, and get rid of some of my yarn that is slowly leaving the diningroom area to take over the entire living room... *innocent look* So I'm doing the giant granny pattern that Jennickell posted up here...

What I've got so far (from tonight's Yarn Yoga session and a bit of tv watching)

I'm using the Accord acrylic yarn... I picked up random balls of it a while back for god knows what reason. The colors are Pink rose, Natural, and Denim. They are very nummy next to each other. I can't believe how fast it's growing. I'm using an L hook, and if I hold it up, it goes from my waist to the floor length wise.

I've just realised, I started this thread, but haven't posted any pictures! Here are my squares so far

They are 4 inch squares crocheted in my left over sock yarn. They are a bit crumpled as they have been stuffed in a plastic bag for a few months. I have enough yarn to make it quite a bit bigger than this.Not sure what colour to use to join them - any suggestions?

Milobo - that looks great! I would join with a dark color. I like the way shine's blanket turned out with black as the unifying color. Can't wait to see more!

I have too many scraps, so crocheting a big afghan would be a great sollution to get rid of 'em.
But I just can't choose between a yoyo (http://www.geocities.com/cdjsimon/simple_yoyo_square.html) or a hexagon afghan! They are both so pretty.

M_hatter can ya do BOTH? i bet it would look sweet to have a hex granny afghan trimmed in yo-yos!! (or some variation of that...)

here's my neapolitan granny blanket so far... i've used about half the yarn i originally bought, it's red heart soft yarn. what do you think, will the rest of the yarn make it big enuff to cover the bed? or am i gonna have to buy more yarn? everytime i try to do a stashbusting project, i always end up needing more yarn lol.

Well, I thought about that too, but my mom just convinced me to go for a hexagon afghan.
