My son gets so excited when I crochet him things, because I tell him they're made with "love". Cheesy So last night he crawled into bed and snuggled under the blanket as I was working on it. Glancing at him, I kissed the edge of the blanket, and I explained that's how I got the love into the blanket. He giggled and started kissing the other side, saying he would help me.

Great mommy and son moment, and it just goes to show you that crafting is a great way to bond with your kids.  Wink

Aw, that's so sweet! How old is he?

He's 6 years old, and he LOVES his new blanket!

It turned out just the right size for him, and I'll go ahead and make granny squares with the leftover yarn.  Cheesy

So many super blankets here!

Snoweviolet, that giant granny looks so cuddly! And I want to rub the fire-red head! Your kid is cute as heck!

I'm using up my scraps on this yo-yo afghan:

(It has it's own post here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=247367.0)

Anything that's not solid-colored or is too short to make a yo-yo goes into this monster of a thing:

There seems to be no end in sight for this one.  I chained too many when I started, then did too much work to rip it out.  I'll either give up and make the lines be vertical on the bed, or just keep going till it's long enough to be horizontal. Time will tell... :-P  It's made with two strands of yarn held together, single crocheted with a K hook.

I'm very 'wow' by your striped blanket I so hope you keep going with it, though it'd make a fun winter wrap too (depending on the length) you know for when you have to run to the mail box and don't feel like putting on a coat to go lol.

Good idea! But it's way too long, and it weighs about 100 pounds as it is!

At the mo', I live in a building with inside mailboxes, and my husband and I are waiting to hear if we're moving to Los Angeles, so I basically have no need for this massive afghan.  We have used it as a sleeping mat, though!  Cheesy

No matter what, though, I'll at least make it wide enough for the bed.

This picture is WAYY outdated, but here's my scrap blanket so far.
A giant granny, cause I suck at crocheting.
Like...bad.
Mostly worsted weight acrylic yarn.
Some fingering weight in there, but I don't really care *shrug*
