camisole with a lace up back!

i'm really really happy with how it turned out. i based it off the crochet camisole pattern here - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=67176.0
but ended up ad-libbing a lot of it. i hate counting stitches, so i just memorized where i wanted to put the increases in each row of the top front, and i just made up the back. i ended up making three of the front pieces, because i couldn't be bothered to frog the first one after i realized it didn't match the second. i just started over and made the third to match the second!   

i made the back lace up so that it had a better chance of fitting my swap partner, since there was no way for her to try it on! she said it fits perfectly! i also left it unlined, because she was talking about wearing it over a tank top, and i thought the lining would look wierd then.

these pics are taken with it on my dress form, which is very close in size to my swap partner.

i used the suggested yarn, bernat baby, which was a royal pain in the butt for a lot of it. it separates a lot. i also sent her a bunch of really skinny ribbon, 4 or 5 colours of it, with enough of each colour to thread through below the bust and along the straps.

this is my first fully finished crocheted clothing item, other than shrugs that i've made up as i went along. i'm so proud!

Amy, thats gorgeous!  I usually don't make clothes (lie: I have a half finished sweater, a finished but very wonky jacket, a couple shrugs...) because of fit and impatience. when I get through a couple rows of the yarn separating on me, I usually get to pissed off to finish the project.

thanks! i never make clothes either! compared to sewing, it seems like a huge hassle. it just takes sooo LONG and it's a hell of a lot of work in case it doesn't fit!

the yarn was annoying, but i got used to it pretty quick. if it had just been for me, i probably would have gotten mad and deserted it, but i had to finish it, it was for a swap!

this was for the knit/sew/crochet swap round 3, it was SUCH a good swap! no flakers, great communication, and so much awesome stuff sent and received!
