UGH! FINALLY!! my mario quilt is complete. i started working at my aunt's quilt shop this summer and have been quilting for quite a few years (started when i was 16, i am now 19) and the environment i was in all summer totally rubbed off on me. i NEEDED a huge project to accomplish. i needed to quilt. i got the itches, so to say! i just finished the top tonight and i am going to quilt it tomorrow on my aunt's sweet sixteen longarm... but i wanted to post pics of it before quilting so i can show the back! it is insane. i used tiny 1 1/2 inch pieces for everything. and i couldn't strip quilt it, either. anyway, for my quilt i wanted something fun and kitchy, and not so much grandma-y. i also think making quilts out of pictures is toatlly cool. so, i was thinking... pixels would be the best route to start out with. and who better than our pixelated friend MARIO to be featured?? so i went online for some screencaps of games, then graphed the picture out into pixels on Paint Shop Pro 8. the rest, is history.

how big the squares were, compared to my hand.

graphed out picture of what i wanted the quilt to look like.

the remnants of my squares. Wink

anyway, although it was time consuming (took me over 3 months), it was really simple once i graphed it all out. i laid out the squares for the specific block i was working on on the table next to my machine, and i picked them up as i went along. you should all try it and see how it goes! just make sure all your seams match up Wink

argh! beat me to it!
This is the one I'm planning on starting any day now. (6'x8' 1" squares)

Yours is great -- It's getting me all excited.
Were the small squares difficult to work with?
How are you planning to bind it?

:0 Very awesome!  And it looks so neat and lined up in the back.  I wish I was that neat.  Great job.  I am sure my hubby would get a kick out of this since he loves nintendo.  Post pics after the quilt is finished, please!
