I wanted a dress for my daughter to wear to a preschool open house.  So, last night I raided my fabric box and found a fat quarter of cute carnival fabric and some leftover yellow polka dot scraps from a wrap dress I made for a swap.  I played around with the fabric sizes until I could come up with a design that used what I had...  I ended up making this little halter dress.  I'm in love with it!  Thankfully, I made myself a pattern as I went along, so now I can make another one, or two, or more!  She was a hit at the open house  Grin. What do you think?

Thanks!  I didn't use a pattern.  I just made it up as i went along, using one of her summer dresses as a bit of a guide for size.  It was beyond easy.  The top is 4 triangles with straps extending from the top (more or less), sewn together inside out and then reversed.  They overlap and are sewn onto the front skirt.  The front and back skirt are 2 A-line shaped pieces.  The back has elastic.  Then, lastly, I stuck the ruffle on.  Total time, about an hour.
